UNITI: GRAVURE PRINCIPLES AND IMAGE CARRIER PREPARATION 12 HRS

Principles of Intaglio and Gravure Printing Processes. Classification of sheet fed and web fed presses, Gravure cylinder preparation -Conventional method of cylinder preparation, Electro – mechanical engraving, Electron beam engraving, laser beam and chemical etching, list the types of screens.

UNITII: GRAVURE PRESSWORK 10HRS

The publication press, classify printing units, functions and mechanism of doctor blade, substrates, necessary paper quality, ink quality of water based and oil based .register control, mechanism of drying system. The packaging press , label & narrow web printing . system, aqueous based solvent system. Volatile solvent based inking .

UNIT III: FLEXOGRAPHIC PRINCIPLES AND IMAGE PREPARATION 10HRS

UNIT IV:FLEXOGRAPHIC PRESS WORK 10HRS

Printing units of Flexography presses-construction & Description, different substrates and their characters, necessary Paper quality. types of Inking system-water based, solvent based, characteristic of flexo ink. Types of Anilox Roller and functions Press Types : Stack, common Impression & Inline presses, /Ink & solvents used for Flexography printing.

UNIT V: SCREEN PRINTING MACHINERIES AND EQUIPMENTS 08 HRS

The Principles of screen printing, Screen mesh, Silk, Synthetic materials, Mesh classification and mesh selection. Screen frames and screen tensioning: Wooden screen frames, Steel screen frames, Aluminum screen frames self – tensioning frames, Screen pre treatment. Squeegee : Squeegee classification and Squeegee selection. Stencil making : Photo mechanical stencil making and direct photo stencil film. Printing machinery : Hand-bench printing equipments, screen printing machines. Inks and solvents used for screen printing process.
