UNITI: INTRODUCTION TO SHEET-FED OFFSET PRESSES 05Hrs

Principles of Lithography and offset printing, Introduction to Units of offset machine -Feeding unit, printing unit, and Delivery unit.
Configuration and Structure of Sheet fed Presses: Single color, Multi color and convertible presses. Typical design of offset press.

UNITII: PRINTING UNIT IN OFFSET PRESS 09Hrs

Plate cylinder- construction -undercut, cylinder gap- bearer contact and bearer clearance, plate clamps,- types-plate mounting- cylinder packing- types.

Blanket cylinder, construction undercut, and cylinder gap, blanket mounting, packing. Types of Blanket- requirement of ideal blanket, compressible, non compressible, blanket cleaning devices, storage and handling.

Impression cylinder, construction cylinder gap, packing, grippers.

UNITIII: INKING AND DAMPENING UNIT IN OFFSET PRESS 11Hrs

UNIT IV: SHEET CONTROL DEVICES AND DELIVERY SYSTEMS IN OFFSET PRESS 11Hrs

Types of feeders- types of suction feeders- single sheet and stream feeder, Feeder head components- feeder head, air blast nozzle, rear pick up suckers, forwarding pick up suckers, separator brushes and fingers- feed board elements.

Sheet registering devices- front lay & side lay, types of front and side lays. Sheet detectors-double sheet, no sheet and cross sheet detectors.

Sheet insertion devices- swing arm, rotary tumbler and over feed grippers.

Delivery section – Delivery assist devices, suction slow down rollers, blow downs, wedges, skeleton wheels, star wheels and anti set off devices.
