UNIT-I: IDENTIFICATION AND SEPERATION(09hours)
Plastics production and consumption – Plastic wastes generation source and types – Plastic waste composition , quantities – Plastics identification methods physical , chemical and instrumental – sorting and separation technologies – disposal alternatives – Recycling methods – Primary , Secondary and tertiary recycling of plastics
UNIT-II: METHODS OF RECYCLING (08 hrs)
Size reduction of recycled plastics – cutting / shredding, densification, pulverization and chemical size reduction processes – municipal solid waste and composition – recycling of plastics from urban solid wastes – household waste.

- Each student should do any one of the following type activity or any other similar activity related to the course and before conduction, get it approved from concerned Teacher and HOD.
- Each student should conduct different activity and no repeating should occur
- Collect different polymer recycling plant videos, understand and write and Submit hand written report of 500 words
- Visit polymer recycling industries and observe all the process parameter and testing of different materials additives and Submit hand written report of 500 words
- Compare the recycling materials and testing done on them. Submit hand written report of 500 words.
- Analyze different polymer recycling machine in our department. And write note report of 500 words.
- Study the test done in nearby recycling industries available and collect the following information like structure, size, properties and applications, Price, handling procedures etc. The student should submit a handwritten report. Documents have to be maintained as a record.
- Motivate student to take case study on particular activity to inculcate self and continues learning, Submit hand written report of 500 words on selected case study
