UNIT-I: Introduction and Specimen preparation(09hours)
Introduction – Need for testing, need for standards and specifications, national and international standards, quality control, limitation of test data, accuracy and validity of test methods.
Specimen preparation and conditioning – Shape and size of test specimen, standards for test specimen preparation like molding, machining, stamping and punching of specimens, conditioning of specimens.
UNIT-II: Mechanical properties (08 hrs)
Short term strength – Tensile properties, compression properties, flexural properties, shear properties, impact resistance, toughness, tear resistance, abrasion resistance and hardness.
Long term strength – Dynamic stress and strain properties and their measurement, creep, stress relaxation, fatigue properties, flexing, resilience
UNIT-III: Thermal properties(09hrs)

- Visit polymer testing industries and observe all the process parameter and testing of different materials additives and Submit hand written report of 500 words
- Compare the product materials and specialty additives used in rubber industries and testing done on them. Submit hand written report of 500 words.
- Analyze different polymer testing machine in our department. And write note report of 500 words.
- Study the test done in nearby polymer industries available and collect the following information like structure, size, properties and applications, Price, handling procedures etc. The student should submit a handwritten report. Documents have to be maintained as a record.
- Motivate student to take case study on particular activity to inculcate self and continues learning, Submit hand written report of 500 words on selected case study
