UNIT-1 EXPLOSIVES AND INITIATION DEVICES

Explosives:Constituents of explosives, Low & High Explosives, Permitted &non permitted explosives. Detonators & Accessories-Plain detonator, Delay electric detonator, advantages of delay detonators, Safety fuse, Plastic igniter cord, detonating fuse, Detonating relay, Simultaneous and delay action firing, Shock tubes, NONEL,Electronic delay detonators, Ohm Meter, Shot firing cables, Exploders-types, construction and safety features.

UNIT-2 BLASTING PRACTICES IN UNDERGROUND MINES

Common causes of accidents from explosives, Misfired shots& blown out shots- causes and remedial measures. Shot-firing tools, Preparation of charge, Procedure for firing shots, Direct & Indirect initiation, stemming material, burden, spacing, depth of hole, Calculation of explosive quantity, powder factor, precautions during blasting.
