Introduction to Force Measurement, Basic methods of Force Measurement, Scales & Balances, Equal arm balance, Un-equal arm balance, Multiple lever systems, Pendulum scale, Accelerometers, Hydraulic & Pneumatic load cells, Elastic sensing elements, Proving rings.

UNIT II: TORQUE MEASUREMENT 07 Hrs

  1. Each student should submit any one of the following type activity or any other similar activity related to the course and before take up get it approved from concerned Teacher and HOD.
  2. Each student should conduct different activity and no repeating should occur.
  1. Each student will select and bring at least one mechanical component. Sketch each component. Outline its applications and submit an handwritten report.
  2. Conduct study on real time applications of a Transducer / Strain gauge and submit a hand report on the study.
  3. Take case study on applications of any one Recording system in nearby industry; submit report on same.
  4. Sketch any one Tachometer, list the steps followed and record the observations for measuring the Torque and submit an handwritten report.
  5. Select appropriate Transducer / Strain gauge and interpret its concept and List / note the advantages, limitations & applications and submit an handwritten report.
