UNIT-I CLICKING TECHNOLOGY

Introduction & importance – Responsibilities of Clicker – Types of clicking – mechanical/ hydraulic clicking press – Advantage and disadvantages of manual/ machine clicking- clicking knives – Defects in Leather and Leather Sorting – Characteristics and Variation in Leather -Clicking by Laser beam and Water jet – Clicking of Various parts of the shoe-upper& bottom from leather, lining leather, foam, fabric, leather board & vegetable tanned leather – Qualities required in a clicker – Assessment of Leather Consumption for Cutting – Russ and small
methods to ascertain consumption of leather – Importance of light and humidity in clicking department.

UNIT – II CLOSING TECHNOLOGY

Introduction – Cemented construction-Advantages and disadvantages of cemented construction -machine sewn or mckay construction (introduction, preparation of various components & sequence of operations) – Californian construction (slip lasted) (introduction, preparation of various components & sequence of operations) – Stitch down construction (veldtschoen) (introduction, preparation of various components & sequence of operations)- Welted/ Goodyear welted construction (introduction, preparation of various components & sequence of operations)-advantage and disadvantages of welted construction- direct moulded footwear constructions-DVP ( introduction, preparation of various components & sequence of operations)- DIP (introduction, preparation of various components & sequence of operations).

UNIT- V FINISHING OF SHOES

Introduction – Leather Finishing- Cleaners, Conditioners, Fillers- Shoe Dressing, Wax FinishingBottom Finishing (Sequence of Operations) – Repairing and Renovation of Shoe – Handling of Finishes/Dressings – Various Ingredients for Formulations in Shoe Finishing – Bleaching -Cleaning, various types of Cleaners for different types of Upper Leather – Classification of various Dressing Materials- Teeing.

  1. Each student should do any one of the following type activity or any other similar activity related to the course and before conduction, get it approved from concerned Teacher and HOD.
  2. Each student should conduct different activity and no repeating should occur
  1. Go to nearest footwear factory. Collect various samples of shoe components with specifications and submit the report handwritten form in 2-3 pages.
  2. Collect two shoes of different styles. Compare the elements of comfort in these shoes and submit the report in handwritten form in 2-3 pages.
  3. Go to nearest footwear factory. Collect various samples of adhesives and prepare a list of quality parameters of these samples in handwritten form in 2-3 pages.
  4. Go to nearest footwear factory. Collect a pair of shoe and Prepare a cost sheet of shoe and submit the report.
