PART A. PERFORMING EXPERIMENTS

  1. Determine calorific value of liquid and gaseous fuel by using Bomb calorimeter /Boy’s gas calorimeter 06
  2. Develop the valve timing diagram of 4-stroke diesel engine 06
  3. Develop the port timing diagram of 2-stroke petrol engine 06
  4. Analyze characteristics of single cylinder diesel engine for different loads 06
  5. Discover the heat balance sheet of single cylinder diesel engine 06
  6. Analyze characteristics of single cylinder petrol engine for different loads 06
  7. Finding the indicated power of individual cylinders of an engine by using MORSE test 06
  8. Determine the volumetric efficiency of air compressor 06
  9. Analyze characteristics of multi cylinder petrol engine for different loads 06
  10. Analyze characteristics of double cylinder diesel engine for different loads 06
  11. Determine the dryness fraction steam using Steam calorimeter 03
  12. Determine the performance of gen set for different load conditions. 03

PART- B. STUDY EXPERIMENTS

  1. Identify I.C. Engine parts (Cylinder block, head, piston and piston ring Connecting rod& crank shaft , spark plug. 06
  2. Inspect fuel injector, carburettor, fuel pump parts by dis assembly and then assembly 06

Suggested List of Student Activities:

  1. Each student should submit any one of the following type activity or any other similar activity related to the course and before take up get it approved from concerned Teacher and HOD.
  2. Each student should conduct different activity and no repeation should occur
  1. Collect/ download product catalogues with specification of various types of energy conservation equipment/ devices and heat exchanger of recent trends.
  2. Identify and list at least 10 equipments/devices which require heat transfer and prevention of heat transfer. Also state mode of heat transfer and methods used to prevent heat transfer.
  3. At least one visit of any power plant/ industry where various items like air compressor, heat exchanger, cooling tower, condenser etc. can be shown to students.
