UNIT -1 SEWING MACHINE 12hr

1. Introduction to Sewing Machine.
2. History of sewing Machine.
3. Types of sewing machine – Hand operated, leg operated and power operated.
4. Study of external and internal working parts of Domestic Sewing Machine with neat sketch
5. Study of external and internal non working parts with neat sketch
6. Function and uses of the Working and None working parts.
7. Attachments—Zipper foot, Seam Guide, Hemmer foot, Gathering foot, Button hole Foot.
8. Defects, causes and remedies of the sewing machine.
9. Care and Maintenance of the sewing machine.
10. Selection of sewing machine.

UNIT – II TECHNICAL TERMS, SEAMS AND STITCHES 9 hrs

1. Introduction to Technical Terms —Seam allowance, Bias, True Bias, edge finish, Flap, facing, Frog, Grain, Selvedge, Notch mark, Notions, Placket
2. Introduction to seams.
3. Types of seams with neat sketch.- Plain, French, flat, show seam and edge Neatening seams.
4. Introduction and Classification of hand stitches – temporary, permanent and decorative stitches.
