1. Introduction:

Definition of health and sanitation, Importance of sanitation-Activities involved in Sanitation, Public health works.

Communicable diseases:
Definitions- epidemic, endemic, epizootic, channel of infection, Vehicle of infection, Incubation period, Disease communicated by intestinal discharge. Typhoid fever transmission & prevention. Hook worm disease transmission & prevention, Disease communicated by nose and throat discharges. Tuberculosis -Mode of transmission & its control. Disease of animals transmitted to the human beings-Anthrax, Rabies and Brucellosis, General method of control of communicable diseases. Prevention of epidemics. 09

2. Food sanitation:

Importance of food sanitation, Agencies through which food may cause suffering or death. Food & drug law, Food borne diseases; Food poisoning. Insect vector & Rodent control:

Note: the following activities or similar activities for assessing CIE for 5 marks (Any one)

  1. Each student should do any one of the following type activity or any other similar activity related to the course and before conduction, get it approved from concerned course coordinator and program coordinator.
  2. Each student should conclude the selected activity through presentation & Seminar.
  1. Write a report on sanitary measures to be taken during Fairs and Festivals
  2. Prepare a report on Quantity of solid waste generated from village or town
  3. Visit to nearby factory identify the hazards from various sources and occupational disease
  4. Visit a swimming pool and make a report on quality standards of water, and recirculation system adopted in swimming pool.
  5. Visit to Health department and prepare a report on measures to be taken to prevent the occurrence of epidemics.
  6. Visit to a Veterinary hospital to collect the information about disease of animals transmitted to human beings.
