Note: the following activities or similar activities for assessing CIE (IA) for 5 marks (Any one)

  1. Each student should do any one of the following type activity or any other similar activity related to the course and before conduction, get it approved from concerned Course coordinator and Program coordinator.
  2. Each student should conduct different activity and no repeating should occur.
  3. E ach student should conclude the activity through presentation/Seminar.
  1. Prepare Concrete mix design of M20 grade for the locally available raw material and adding suitable quantity of flash or silica fume.
  2. Design the structural elements -Beams, Columns and Slabs for Residential Building (One and Two Story Building)
  3. Visit nearby multistoried building/Apartment/culvert/bridge etc. nearby place and collect the structural details.
  4. Collect the information about Minimum Live load to be considered for Residential /Office Building/Commercial Complex
  5. Understand the Concept of design of form work for different types of buildings & Collect information about stripping times for forms for different conditions.
  6. Identify various tests to be conducted on Concrete, Cement, Aggregates, water and their standard values

PART-B

(Answer any four)

  1. List the assumptions made in the Limit state design.
  2. A singly reinforced beam under the action of working loads is subjected to a bending moment of 45kN.m. If the beam is 250mm wide, Find the effective depth and the reinforcement required. Use M20 concrete and Fe415 steel
  3. Calculate the ultimate moment of resistance of a T-beam using following data:
    1. Width of flange=1500mm Depth of flange=100mm Overall depth of beam=600mm
    2. Width of rib=300mm
    3. Area of tension steel=2455mm2
    4. Effective cover=40mm
    5. Use M15 concrete and Fe 415 steel.
  4. Determine the reinforcement for a beam of size 230mm x600mm with an effective cover 40mm is to carry 40kN/m. Use M20 concrete and Fe425 steel. Effective span is 6m.
  5. Design a circular column subjected to axial load of 1000kN. Use M20 concrete and Fe500 steel.
  6. Design cantilever slabwith fallowing details
    1. Clear span 2m
    2. Live load on slab 3KN/M2
    3. Finishing load 1 KN/M2

PART -C

(Answer any two)

  1. Design a two way slab for a room of inside dimension 4.0mx5.0m. Assume a live load of 3kN/m2 and a finish of 1kN/m2. Sketch the reinforcement details.
  2. Designsimply supported singly reinforced beam for a clear span of 5m.take super imposed load of30KN/m Sketch the reinforcement details.
  3. Design a square footing to carry a column load of 1200kN from 450mm square column. The bearing capacity of soil is 200kN/m2. Use M20 Concrete and Fe415 steel.
