Course Objectives:

  2. Make the students come up with innovative/ new ideas in his area of interest.
  3. Identify, analyze and develop opportunities as well as to solve broadly defined mechanical Engineering problems
  4. Enhance students’ appreciation of the values of social responsibility, legal and ethical principles, through the analysis and discussion of relevant articles and real time projects

1. PROJECT WORK: 78 HRS

A. INTRODUCTION

The objective of the project work is to enable the students in convenient groups of minimum of 5 members on a project involving theoretical and experimental studies related to the branch of study. Every project work shall have a guide who is the member of the faculty of the institution. Six periods per week shall be allotted in the time table and this time shall be utilized by the students to receive the directions from the guide, on library reading, laboratory work, computer analysis or field work as assigned by the guide and also to present in periodical seminars on the progress made in the project.

B. ROAD MAP FOR THE PROJECT

  1. Carry out a sessionor a seminar from the ISTEStudent Chapter coordinator / Programme coordinator with the help of Innovation club / I I I cell for directing the students to identify project areas in the field of their interested including interdisciplinary areas.
  2. Power point presentation in seminar should include detail description of project areas related to program, Project report formats, developing personnel writing skills.
  3. The Students/Departments may at liberty to form the batch not less than 5 and maximum 7 and get registered with project coordinator/HOD at the end of V semester.
  4. Students should take the approval from the Project committee/ Head of department for doing project.
  5. After approval the batch of students will be published in department notice boardalong with guidein the end of 5th semester.
  6. All students should finalize their Project immediately before commencement of SEE of5th semester.
  7. The types of project may include:
    • Industrial case study
    • Preparation of a feasibility report
    • Design and development of equipment.
    • The improvement of existing equipment
    • Creation of New facilities
  8. The project should be challenging but manageable within the resources and time available.
  9. Students should undergo reviews for one times in 5thsemester and at least 4 times in6th semester during the internal assessment. Time table for IA should include project review. The guide should monitor the progress of Project work periodically and it should be finally evaluated for 25 marks at the end of 5th semester and for 25 marks at the end of 6th semester.

D. Industrial report

Students are required to submit a comprehensive report on factory visit with details of the organization where the training was undergone. The comprehensive report should focus on study of plant/ product /process/ along with intensive in-depth study on anyone of the topics such as processes, methods, tooling, plant layout and equipment, highlighting aspects of quality, productivity of the system. Any data, drawings etc should be incorporated with the consent of the Organization. The comprehensive report should be submitted for the end exam for evaluation

  1. Project based on Process control Instrumentation – Flow, pressure, Temperature, Level, Displacement etc.
  2. Project based on Microcontrollers
  3. Project based on Programmable Logic controllers
  4. Project based on Bio-medical field
  5. Project based on Environmental Instrumentation
  6. Project based on Computer controlled process Instrumentation
  7. Project based on Industrial Electronics equipments
  8. Project based on Industrial Automation
  9. Design and Fabrication of various types of lab equipment’s useful to polytechnic
  10. Remodelling of various lab equipment’s available at polytechnic
  11. Control System related projects – Open loop, Closed loop / feedback.
  12. Robotics
  13. Any projects related to low cost automation
  14. Project on Hydraulic / Pneumatic Control systems

H. REASSESSMENT FOR FINAL REVIEW ( VI Semester)

  1. Log of Activity ( Plan & Schedule) 05 Mark
  2. LiteratureReview / Report 10 mark
  3. Presentation 10 mark

J.SEEASSESSMENT:

  1. Relevance of the subject in the present context 05 mark
  2. Literature Review / Report 05 mark
  3. Fabrication of the model 20 mark
  4. Result &Demonstration of Project 10 mark
  5. Presentation 10 mark

Project Review Committee should consists of

  1. Program Coordinator (Head of the Department)
  2. Staff members of the Department
  3. Representative from Innovation Club of the Polytechnic/ Industry Institute Interaction Cell.

All students of 5th/ 6th Semester should compulsorily attend each Review Proceedings of the meeting should be maintained in the department and shown during I.A. Verification.
