Course Objectives:

UNIT I:- WAVE SHAPING CIRCUITS

Working of Integrator & differentiator using passive elements (R&C), Positive, Negative and combinational Clipping circuits, Positive and Negative Clamping circuits, Applications of clipping & clamping circuits 05 Hours

UNIT II:- POWER SUPPLIES

Define rectifier, types, Working of half wave &full wave (centre taped & bridge) rectifiers, Definition of ripple, Efficiency and derive the expression for ripple factor,
Need for filter circuits and working of C, LC and n filters, Definition of regulator, Necessity of regulated power supply and definition of regulation (Line and load) Working of series and shunt voltage regulators, Working of IC (LM317, LM723, LM7805) regulators, applications, Block diagram and working of SMPS, UPS, applications. 10 Hours

Example 1

  1. Do Market survey on List of Electronic components available in the market and collect the following information like name of the component, comparisons, specifications, Price etc. The student should submit a handwritten report. Documents have to be maintained as a record.
  2. Take Quiz tests / assignments in topics of Analog electronics. Documents have to be maintained as a record.
  3. Do a power point presentation on current topics in Analog electronics. Documents have to be maintained as a record.
  4. Visit YouTube or any other sites on current topics in Analog electronics. Listen to the lectures and submit a handwritten report and a soft copy (CD/DVD)

  1. Write the steps to covert a rectifier to a 5V regulator circuit
  2. Construct a combinational clipper circuit
  3. Do simple problems on voltage divider bias and calculate the Q point on the load line
  4. Compare voltage gain and frequency response of single stage with two stage RC coupled amplifier
