UNIT-I SEMICONDUCTOR DIODES :

Working principle of Junction Diode . Forward & Reverse Bias Characteristics of Junction Diode , Applications – Diode as switch , Diode as rectifier .

Working principle of Zener diode, forward and reverse bias characteristics of zener diode Applications – as a voltage regulator.8 hours

UNIT-II BIPOLAR TRANSISTORS:

Introduction .Definition and types .Working principle of PNP and NPN transistor, Transistor in CB,CE and CC configurations, current amplification factor in CB and CE configuration, Relation between alpha and beta. Input and output characteristic of NPN transistor and PNP transistor in CB configuration. Input and output characteristic of NPN transistor in CE
configuration. Comparison of CB,CE and CC configurations. Application of transistors- as switch and amplifier in CE configuration. Thermal runway and heat sink. Simple problems.

UNIT-III FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTOR:
