  1. Determine the water of plasticity of clay By varying the Particle size. 6
  2. Determine the water of plasticity of clay by varying the percentage of non plastic materials addition 6
  3. Determine LDS of clay body 6
  4. Determine firing shrinkage of clay. 6
  5. Determine LDS of triaxial body compositions. 6
  6. Determine Firing Shrinkage of Triaxial body compositions. 6
  7. Determination of density of above fired bodies(clay body & triaxial body). 6
  8. Determine density, porosity & water absorption of Fired ceramic body by varying percentage of flux content. 6
  9. Measure plasticity /workability of clay with & without ageing (using vicat apparatus/ extrusion). 6
  10. Loss on ignition of clay and other materials (Limestone, Dolomite and magnesite ). 6
  11. Determination of Viscosity of slip by using different defloculants, with varying percentage. 6
  12. Determination of density of slip by pycnometer. 6
  13. Determination of pH value of prepared slip 6

Suggested Student Activity

  1. Student should prepare a comparative statement on properties of different ceramic products. And make a report.
  2. Student should prepare a clay brick of specified fired size considering its shrinkage behavior and make a report on it.
  3. Arrange a guest lecture on ceramic materials and make a report on the given talk.
  4. Student should surf the internet or media and make a report on preparation of advanced ceramic materials other than prescribed in syllabus.
  5. Student should visit internet or find books and collect information on fly ash products and make a report.

Note: Student should prepare hand written report with minimum 2-3 pages and reports should not be copiedfrom earlier batches. And other similar tasks can be assigned.
