Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have great pleasure to welcome you all to the 5th Annual General Meeting of Your Company. The Directors’ / Report and the Audited Statement of Accounts for the year ended 31st March 1991 have been with you for some time now // and with your permission, I shall take them as read.

As you will see from the Directors’ Report, your Company has made // tremendous progress during the year under review compared to the last year. You are aware that the country is passing through a difficult /1/ situation at the present time. Other industries which are engaged in similar business like our Company are not able to make any / profits. But I am happy to inform you that in spite of all these problems, we have made progress and we have been // able to maintain the dividend of twenty per cent for the current year also.

I am sure that you are aware of // the improvements the Company has made during year under review. I take this opportunity to inform you that during the year we //2// have opened two Branches in important centres of the country. These Branches have picked up very well, more than expected and they / have contributed to a great extent for the profit of the Company. These Branches have been able to get valuable orders from foreign //countries also. These orders have been executed promptly and the Companies in foreign countries who have placed orders with these Branches are // very happy that the goods were supplied in time. They have now placed huge orders and during the next year, your Company will //3// able to make still more profits and the Company will be in a position to increase the dividend to shareholders, and salary / and bonus to the staff members.

In order to meet the increased orders for the goods, the Company proposes to start four new // Factories and appoint more number of persons during the next year. This will enable the Company to give employment opportunities to several // hundreds of persons in the next year itself. I am also happy to inform you that during the year under review, the Company //4// has been able to provide several facilities to the staff members like construction of a school for their children, construction of Hospital, / formation of Co-operative Society. Not only to supply the various items needed for the daily life but also to give loans for // meeting urgent expenses etc. This Society is now managed by the efficient office bearers who are known for their loyalty and service // to the members. All the staffs have become members of the Society which was inaugurated by our Chief Minister a few months ago. //5//

Dear Sir,

As you are aware, we are currently facing a serious problem, arising out of the unlimited damage and sufferings of / the people affected by floods following heavy rains. You will agree that is our duty to rise to the occasion and help // them in every possible way. Needless to say, the first step should be to provide food, clothes and shelter. Medical facilities should // also be made available on a massive scale since there is an imminent danger of spreading epidemic diseases which is common after flood //6// hazards.

All this would require the active co-operation from all section of the public including voluntary organizations. The Government will make available / as much funds as can be set apart for the purpose, but compared to the extent of damage and sufferings of the people, // the available funds may be inadequate. It will therefore be necessary to collect from the general public whatever they could give by // way of money, clothes and other materials.

With this end in view, the District Collectors are requested to issue necessary guidelines for setting //7// up of Relief Committees in every Panchayat. Apart from the members of the Panchayat the Committee should also consist of local representatives. / Due priority should be attached to this appeal and every effort should be made to tide over the present situation immediately.

Yours faithfully, //

Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your kind enquiry of the sixth instant and thank you for the same.

We regret // very much to inform you that the latest catalogue of Foreign Publications containing the names of authors is not readily available and we //8// are anxiously awaiting the supply of these catalogues directly from the publishers at least by the next fast express steamer which is / scheduled to arrive in the Calcutta Harbour by the end of this week. There has been a great demand for this catalogue from // almost all the libraries, schools and colleges within the past fortnight. We presume that the cable sent by us has reached the // publishers in good time before the departure of foreign mail. On receipt of the supply, a copy will be forwarded to you.

As //9// desired by you, we enclose the Market Guide, which we are sure will interest you as it contains the most valuable and / up-to-date information of All India Reporters. All the leading firms in India are our subscribers and the demand is on the // increase day by day. We do not therefore intend to print more copies than are required under the present circumstances of supply // of printing paper. We therefore look forward to hear from you the exact number of copies required, at your earliest convenience.

Yours faithfully,//10//
