UNIT-I: Introduction to Light:

Basic properties of Light: Electromagnetic spectrum , Absorption, Reflection, Refraction, Transmission .Quality of light , Attributes of light – quantity – foot candles – quality – colour quality – Colour temperature , Colour: perception, Primary and Complimentary colour, properties, Comparison between Eye & Brain combination and Camera and Film combination – the concept of photography as painting with light.

UNIT -II: Evolution of photography:-

Early contributions , Image recording medium, Early image development techniques, Pin hole camera , Developments in photography, Anatomy of Still camera- Lens , Aperture, Shutter, Film negative, Latent image formation etc, Types of Still cameras-Pin hole, Box, Folding, Range finder, Studio, TLR,SLR, Stereo cameras and their Applications .
