Fundamentals of Discretization: Finite Element Method, Finite Difference and Finite Volume Method, Some Conceptual Basics and Illustrations through 1-D Steady State Diffusion Problems, Boundary Condition Implementation and discretization of unsteady state Problems. Equations of fluid dynamics and their classification. Boundary conditions.Finite difference schemes- Projection and truncation error, Stability, consistency, accuracy and convergence of numerical schemes.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n

Basics of Finite Volume Method: Equations in integral form, numerical flux at cell faces, upwind methods, flux – vector splitting, flux- difference splitting, shock capturing methods. Introduction to CFD as a design tool; explicit and implicit methods; O.C.H types of grids. Important Consequences of discretization of time dependent diffusion type problems and stability analysis.\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n
