3. Thyristor and their Operation:-

  1. Thyristor and its types.
  2. SCR, Diac, Triac, their construction, characterstics and applications.
  3. UJT and its characterstics, LDR, LED and photo electric relay.
  4. Methods of switching ON and switching OFF SCR.
  5. Phase control using SCR, Diac and Triac and concept of firing angle and its control. Heating, Welding and Temperature control using SCR.

4. Thyristor Application:-

  1. Basic circuit and working of single phase, three phase, half wave, full wave and bridge power convertors (rectifiers) using SCR.
  2. Basic circuit and working of single phase and three phase bridge invertors using SCR.
  3. Basic circuit and working of D.C. and A.C. Choppers.
