Fluid Properties: Units and dimensions- Properties of fluids- mass density, specific weight, specific volume, specific gravity, viscosity, compressibility, vapor pressure, surface tension and capillarity. Fluid Statics and Flow Characteristics: Basic equation of fluid statics, Manometers, Force on plane areas and curved surfaces, center of pressure, Buoyant force, Stability of floating and submerged bodies. Flow characteristics – concept of control volume – application of continuity equation, energy equation and momentum equation.
