PR407: Fluid Mechanics Lab Syllabus for PR 4th Sem 2017-18 DBATU

Fluid Mechanics Lab detailed syllabus scheme for B.Tech Production Engineering (PR), 2017-18 onwards has been taken from the DBATU official website and presented for the Bachelor of Technology students. Course Outcomes:

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Differentiate between laminar and Turbulent flow and determine Critical Reynolds number using Reynolds Apparatus
  • Verify Bernoullis theorem
  • Determine pressure drop in flow though pipes and pipe fittings
  • Verify momentum equation using impact of jet apparatus
  • Determine viscosity using viscometer
  • Calibrate pressure gauges, rotameter
  • Use manometers for pressure measurement

List Of Experiment:

(any eight experiments from the list)

  1. Flow visualization technique: characteristics of laminar and turbulent flow patterns using Helleshaw Apparatus.
  2. Verification of Bernoullis theorem
  3. Determination of Critical Reynolds number using Reynolds Apparatus
  4. Determinations of pressure drop in pipes of various cross-sections
  5. Determinations of pressure drop in pipes of various pipe fittings etc.
  6. Viscosity measurement using viscometer (at least one type)
  7. Verification of momentum equation using impact of j et apparatus
  8. Determination of metacentric height of a floating body
  9. Calibration of a selected flow measuring device and Bourdon pressure gauge
  10. Gauge and differential pressure measurements using various types of manometers, Bourdon type pressure gauge. Demonstration of measurement using these instruments Lab.
  11. Experiment to study hydraulic jump.
