Course Outcomes:

Learner will be able to..

  1. Use codes and hand books to retrieve relevant data for design and selection.
  2. Design machine tool structures.
  3. Select drive elements and drives for machine tools.
  4. Design feed gear boxes for a machine tool.
  5. Design bearings and clutches for a machine tool.
  6. Design power screws for a machine tool.

Design Exercise/ Assignment

  1. Design of mechanical drives (At least one design and drawing)
  2. Design and drawing of machine tool guideways, slideway profiles, wear compensation techniques.
  3. Design and drawing of machine tool structure profiles.
  4. Demonstration of acceptance test on at least one machine tool.
  5. Assignment on power screws.
  6. Assignment on clutches.
  7. Assignment each on antifriction bearing & journal bearing.

Term work: Term work shall consist of design exercises and assignments as per the list given above The distribution of marks for term work shall be as follows: Laboratory work (Experiments/ design and drawings): 15 marks Assignments: 05 marks Interest & involvement 05 marks Total: 25 Marks. The final certification and acceptance of term work ensures the satisfactory performance of laboratory work and minimum passing in the term work.
