Lab Outcomes:

Students should be able to:

  1. Identify sources of Data for mining and perform data exploration
  2. Organize and prepare the data needed for data mining algorithms in terms of attributes and class inputs, training, validating, and testing files.
  3. Implement the appropriate data mining methods like classification, clustering or association mining on large data sets using open source tools like WEKA
  4. Implement various data mining algorithms from scratch using languages like Python/ Java etc.
  5. Evaluate and compare performance of some available BI packages
  6. Apply BI to solve practical problems : Analyze the problem domain, use the data collected in enterprise apply the appropriate data mining technique, interpret and visualize the results and provide decision support.

Prerequisites:

Object oriented Concept, Java programming language.

Hardware/Software Requirement

PC i3 or above. Open source data mining and BI tools like WEKA, Rapid Miner, Pentaho.

  1. Classifiers
  2. Clustering Algorithms
  3. Association Mining Algorithms 06 LO 3

Module IV

  1. Implementation of any one classifier using languages like JAVA/ python/R
  2. Implementation of any one clustering algorithm using languages like JAVA/ python
  3. Implementation of any one association mining algorithm using languages like JAVA/ python 06 LO 4

Module V

Detailed case study of any one BI tool (open source tools like Pentaho can be used) (paper Assignment. 04 LO 5

Term Work:

Term Work shall consist of at least 10 to 12 practicals based on the below list. Also Term work Journal must include at least 2 assignments. Term Work Marks: 25 Marks (Total marks) = 15 Marks (Experiment) + 5 Marks (Assignments) + 5 Marks (Attendance) Oral Exam: An Oral exam will be held based on the above syllabus.
