  • Apply various reliability concepts to calculate different reliability parameters
  • Estimate the system reliability of simple and complex systems

Probability Theory 08

  1. Probability: Standard definitions and concepts; Conditional Probability, Bayes Theorem. Probability Distributions: Central tendency and Dispersion; Binomial, Normal, Poisson, Weibull, Exponential, relations between them and their significance. Measures of Dispersion: Mean, Median, Mode, Range, Mean Deviation, Standard Deviation, Variance, Skewness and Kurtosis.

Reliability Improvement 08

  1. Redundancy Techniques: Element redundancy, Unit redundancy, Standby redundancies. Markov analysis. System Reliability Analysis – Enumeration method, Cut-set method, Success Path method, Decomposition method.

Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis 05

  1. Failure mode effects analysis, severity/criticality analysis, FMECA examples. Fault tree construction, basic symbols, development of functional reliability block diagram, Fau1t tree analysis and Event tree Analysis

End Semester Examination:

  1. Question paper will comprise of 6 questions, each carrying 20 marks.
  2. The students need to solve total 4 questions.
  3. Question No.1 will be compulsory and based on entire syllabus.
  4. Remaining question (Q.2 to Q.6) will be selected from all the modules.
