Introduction to Operations Research Introduction, Use of Operations Research in Civil Engineering and Managerial Decision making process, Structure of the Mathematical Model, Limitations of Operations Research, Identification of civil engineering systems and their methods of analysis, Introduction to Optimization Techniques and their application in Engineering Planning, Design and Construction, Multivariable optimization with and without constraints, Objective function and constraints

Module 2

Linear Programming Introduction, Linear Programming Problem, Requirements of LPP, Mathematical Formulation of LPP, Graphical method, Simplex Method Penalty Cost Method or Big M-method, Two Phase Method, duality, Sensitivity Analysis, Civil engineering applications.
