Unit I

Characteristics of Measurement System
Elements of instruments, static and dynamic characteristics, basic concepts of response of first order type instruments, mercury in glass thermometer, bimetallic thermometer, pressure spring thermometer, static accuracy and response of thermometers.

Unit II

Pressure Measurement
Pressure, vacuum and head manometers, measuring elements for gage pressure and vacuum, measuring pressure in corrosive liquids, measuring of absolute pressure, static accuracy and response of pressure gages.

Flow Measurement
head flow meters, open channel meters, area flow meters, flow of dry materials, viscosity measurement.
