Course Outcomes:

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Describe the concept of error
  • Illustrate the concept of various Numerical Techniques
  • Evaluate the given Engineering problem using the suitable Numerical Technique
  • Evaluate the computer programming based on the Numerical Techniques
  • Develop an algorithm for selected numerical technique.
  • Develop the computer program based on the Numerical Techniques.

Roots of Equations
Motivation, Bracketing methods: Bisection methods, Open methods: Newton Raphson method, Engineering applications.

Unit 3

Numerical Solution of Algebraic Equations
Motivation, Cramers rule, Gauss-Elimination Method, pivoting, scaling, engineering applications.

Unit 5

Curve Fitting and Interpolation
Motivation, Least Square Regression: Linear Regression, Polynomial regression. Interpolation: Newtons Divide Difference interpolation, engineering applications. Solution to Ordinary Differentiation Equations: Motivation, Eulers and Modified Eulers Method, Heuns method, Runge – Kutta Method, engineering applications.

Unit 6

Computer Programming
Overview of programming language, Development of at least one computer program based on each unit.
