Course Outcomes:

Students will be able to achieve & demonstrate the following COs on completion of course based learning

  1. Select appropriate physical activities and Sports to maintain healthy lifestyle.
  2. Use fitness and wellness techniques for optimal health and wellbeing.
  3. Practice basic Yoga and Pranayama in daily life to maintain physical and mentalfitness.
  4. Practice meditation regularly for improving concentration and better handling of stress and anxiety.
  5. Follow healthy diet and hygienic practices for maintaining good health.

Practical / Tutorial Experiences

Practice 01
Practice minimum two activities from below

  1. Perform track and field activities like running, jumping, walking and throwing, cycling event correctly to develop endurance, speed, strength, agility, flexibility etc.
  2. Perform aerobics and gymnastics under the guidance of coach to develop strength, agility and flexibility
  3. Practice net/wall sports like volleyball and basketball to develop endurance, strength, agility and flexibility
  4. Practice striking and fielding sports like cricket, bowling, hockey, football baseball etc. to develop endurance, speed, strength, agility, flexibility and coordination
  5. Practice racket games like tennis, badminton, table tennis etc. to develop endurance, speed, strength, agility and flexibility
  6. Practice outdoor games like Kho-Kho and Kabaddi to develop endurance, speed, strength, agility and flexibility
  7. Practice indoor games like chess and carrom, swimming, boxing, karate weightlifting, power lifting, physique training, archery, roller skating etc. to develop concentration.
  8. Organize adapted sports for various levels of physically challenged and impairments.

Practice 02
Introduction : Presentation on Introduction to Yoga and its history

Perform warming up exercises to prepare the body from head to toe for Yoga.(Trainer will explain the importance of Yoga and ask students to perform warming up exercises under his supervision, few of them will be included in every practical sessions.)

Start and end of the Practical will be with appropriate Yoga prayers and chanting of Omkar.

Practice 03
Perform all the postures of Surya Namaskarone by one in a very slow pace, after warm up.

Perform multiple Surya Namaskar( Starting with three and gradually increasing it to twelve) in one go.

Follow up experiment 2 to 4 with shavasana for self relaxation

Practice 04
Perform Sarvangasna, Halasana, Kandharasana (setubandhasana) Perform Bhujangasana, Naukasana, Mandukasana

Perform Paschimottasana, Baddhakonasana, Bharadwajasana.

Perform VeeraBhadrasana, Vrukshasana, Trikonasana.

Follow up experiment 5 to 7 with shavasana for self relaxation

Practice 05
Perform Bhastrika , AnulomVilom Pranayam Kriya Practice Kapalbhati Pranayam Kriya Lab Exp:10

Practice Bhramary Pranayam.

Practice 06
Perform sitting in Dhyan Mudra and meditating.Start with five minute and slowly increasing to higher durations. ( Trainer will explain the benefits of Meditation before practice )

Practice 07
Prepare a diet chart for the given sport.

Practice 08
Calculate your Body Composition (BMI) Identify Sources of Microbial contamination within human body and Good Hygiene practices Personal Cleanliness and behaviors A. Unhygienic practices in food handling areas and personal habits – Don’ts B. Personal grooming . C. Handwashing i. Importance of hand washing ii. Types of hand washing techniques iii. Steps in handwashing iv. Moments of hand hygiene (when should one wash his/her hand) v. Using antiseptics, hand rubs gels or alcohol swabs for hand antisepsis D. Clothing and headgear – Personal protective Equipment
Note : Out of above suggestive LLOs – ‘*’ Marked Practicals (LLOs) Are mandatory. Minimum 80% of above list of lab experiment are to be performed. Judicial mix of LLOs are to be performed to achieve desired outcomes.
