Course Outcomes:

Students will be able to achieve & demonstrate the following COs on completion of course based learning

  1. Select appropriate tools, material, motifs, color combination and stitch type for hand embroidery.
  2. Apply the fundamentals of embroidery to create embroidery motifs.
  3. Identify the origin, fabric, thread, colors, Stitches, Motifs of Regional Indian embroidery (Kantha of Bengal, Kasuti of Karnataka and Phulkari of Punjab)
  4. Identify the origin, fabric, thread, colors, Stitches, Motifs of Regional Indian embroidery (Kashida of Kashmir, Chikankari of Uttar Pradesh and Kutch and Kathiawar of Gujarat)
  5. Design contemporary fashion garments using inspiration from traditional Western and Eastern Indian textiles patterns..

Practical / Tutorial Experiences

  1. * Demonstration of basic hand embroidery and Practice sample making of Outlining Stitches. (Running ,back, stem stitch) and Loop Stiches (Chainstitch Buttonhole Stitch ,Satin,Stich and Herring bone Stitch.) 3
  2. * Demonstartion of basic hand embroidery and practice sample making.of Filling Stitches.(Satin ,Long and Short,Surface Satin) and Knotted and Couching Stitches.(Bullion Knot , French Knot,Basic Couching ,Bhokhara Couching) 3
  3. Develop an article using charting of design,colour combination ,tradtional stitches and motifs of Kantha of Bengal.
  4. Develop an article using charting of design,colour combination ,tradtional stitches and motifs of Kasuti of Karnataka
  5. Develop an article using charting of design,colour combination,tradtional stitches and motifs of Phulkari of Punjab.

  9. * Create a Window Display on- Traditional Saris of India using preseataion ,explaination and traditional draping style.
  10. * Develop innovative garment design inspired by Traditional Indian Textiles and embroidery and apply uses using manual/digital methods.
  11. * Prepare an article of clothing by use of the 3Rs concept (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) to promote sustainable Regional Indian embroidery and Textiles( (make a group of student)
  12. * Prepare a power point presentation on Indian fashion designer working on Traditional Indian Textiles and embroidery.
  13. * Demonstration of Ari work and practice sample making for Ari work embroidery .
  14. * Develop one contemparary pattern designs (Indian/Westerns/Fusion )using combination of above mentioned Textiles and embroidery. (construction of pattern is mandatory)
  15. Note : Out of above suggestive LLOs – ‘*’ Marked Practicals (LLOs) Are mandatory. Minimum 80% of above list of lab experiment are to be performed. Judicial mix of LLOs are to be performed to achieve desired outcomes.
