Course Outcomes:
Students will be able to achieve & demonstrate the following COs on completion of course based learning
- Select relevant key variables to control process in blow room and carding to produce desired quality of sliver.
- Set standard norms for relevant process variable to control draw-frame, comber preparatory and comber processes to produce even sliver.
- Use the relevant process control methodologies on speed frame and ring frame machines to achieve desired yarn quality.

Unit I
Mixing ,Blow room and Carding 1.1 Process control in Mixing: Scope of process control in spinning, Key variables for process control, significance of process control in mixing. 1.2 Control of mixing quality through fibre characteristics, simultaneous control of mixing cost and quality, Linear programming technique in optimization of cotton mixing. 1.3 Bale management using HVI, cotton property evaluation using HVI and AFIS. 1.4 Process control in Blow Room and Carding: Determination of trash content and cleaning efficiency and their norms, Measurement of lint losses, fibre rupture, and neps, their norms and its control. 1.5 Lap uniformity and its norms, batt control in chute feed, Norms and control of sliver uniformity (CV% and U%).

- Conduct an experimental investigation to demonstrate effect of varying the sizing ingredients on yarn strength and present the findings.
