Self Learning

Micro Project

  • Create 3D models of any of the flash type, semi-positive type, and positive type compression moulds using CAD software.
  • Prepare a chart of common faults observed and their remedies for compression mould, injection mould, transfer mould and blow mould.
  • Construct a 3D model of an injection mould, showing all the components such as the fixed half, moving half, core, cavity, plates, guide pin, sprue bush, etc. Use CAD software to create detailed diagrams and present your design in a report.
  • Create a detailed case study on a real-world injection moulding project that utilizes either a hot runner, runnerless, or split mould. Analyze the project’s design choices, challenges faced, and outcomes. Present your case study in both written and presentation formats.
  • Conduct a case study on a real-world injection moulding project, focusing on the feed system. Analyze the design choices for the sprue, runner, and gate, and evaluate their impact on the overall efficiency and quality of the moulded parts. Prepare a report and present it to the class.
  • Investigate different types of cooling systems used in industry for various mould configurations. Compare their efficiency, cost, and applicability. Prepare a detailed report and presentation summarizing your findings and providing recommendations for best practices.
  • Design a heating system for a specific mould or die application using one of the heating methods. Create a detailed CAD drawing of the heating system and explain its design features and operation. Prepare a presentation to showcase the design and its advantages for the selected application.
  • Create a 3D models of any of the extrusion blow mould, injection blow mould and stretch blow mould using CAD software.
