Suggested Student Activities:

Other than the classroom and laboratory learning, following are the suggested student-related co-curricular activities which can be undertaken to accelerate the attainment of the various outcomes in this course: Students should conduct following activities in group and prepare reports of about 5 pages for each activity, also collect/record physical evidences for their (students) portfolio which will be useful for their placement interviews:

  1. Survey market to collect information about different dyes, pigments available and compare them based on their properties, applications, and prices.
  2. Visit any natural fibre process house nearby and collect information from the processing in-charge about various processes conducted.
  3. Library/ internet survey of developments in dyes, pigments and their applications.
  4. Prepare shade card using combination of primary colours.
  5. Prepare presentation incorporating visuals, photographs, animations, video on process sequence of dyeing natural fibres.
  6. Collect information from the natural fibre process house about the faults in dyeing and relevant remedies.
  7. Collect information on safety precautions of various chemicals and machinery used in the process house.

Suggested Special Instructional Strategies:

These are sample strategies, which the teacher can use to accelerate the attainment of the various outcomes in this course:

  1. Massive open online courses (MOOCs) may be used to teach various topics/sub topics.
  2. L in item No. 4 does not mean only the tradinal lecture method, but different types of teaching methods and media that are to be employed to develop the outcomes.
  3. About 15-20% of the topics/snb-topics which is relatively simpler or descriptive in nature is to be given to the students for self-directed learning and assess the development of the COs through classroom presentations (see implementation guideline for details).
  4. With respect to item No. 10, teachers need to ensure to create opportunities and provisions for co-curricular activities.
  5. Guide students in undertaking micro-projects.
  6. Demonstrate students thoroughly before they start doing the practice.
  7. Encourage students to refer different websites to have deeper understanding of the subject.
  8. Assign unit wise assignments to group of 4 to 5 students for solving unit wise questions.
  9. Use of video, animation films to explain concepts, facts and applications related to dyeing of natural fibres.
