The detailed syllabus of microwave engineering lab is as follows.<\/p>\n<h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To familiarize with working of microwave devices<\/li>\n<li>To study the working of microwave generators and antennas<\/li>\n<li>To give an outline on antenna designing software<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Apply the concepts of the wave guide parameters<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with microwave coupling devices<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the operation of Microwave generators and radiators<\/li>\n<li>Design antenna with high frequency simulation software<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Familiarize microwave components and instruments.<\/li>\n<li>Measure the frequency and wave length of a microwave signal.<\/li>\n<li>Determination of VSWR of a given load.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>To measure the isolation between E and H arms of magic tee and demonstrate power division in magic tee.<\/li>\n<li>To demonstrate the isolation of E and H plane tee and its power division.<\/li>\n<li>To measure the coupling factor, insertion loss and directivity of directional coupler<\/li>\n<li>To measure VSWR, insertion loss and isolation of a circulator.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Plot the V-I characteristics of Gunn diode.<\/li>\n<li>Plot the characteristics of reflex klystron tube.<\/li>\n<li>Measure the gain of Horn antenna.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Familiarize high Frequency Simulation Software(FSS)<\/li>\n<li>Using FSS design a monopole antenna<\/li>\n<li>Using FSS design a dipole antenna<\/li>\n<li>Open Ended experiments**<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Suggested Open Ended Projects<\/h4>\n<p>(Not for End Semester Examination but compulsory to be included in Continuous Internal Evaluation. Students can do open ended experiments as a group of 4-5. There is no duplication in experiments between groups.
