The detailed syllabus of estimating and costing lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To learn the procedure for estimating and costing of Civil Engineering works.<\/li>\n<li>To perform rate analysis for different items associated with construction projects.<\/li>\n<li>To use software for detailed estimate related to civil infrastructural projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Understand Basic concepts, techniques and application of estimation and costing<\/li>\n<li>Prepare detailed estimate from given drawing<\/li>\n<li>Analyse quantities in finishing work<\/li>\n<li>Analyse rates and abstract of estimate<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Define the terms quantity surveyor, quantity surveying and understand elements of estimate, different types of estimate<\/li>\n<li>List out duties of quantity surveyor,<\/li>\n<li>Find approximate cost of the building using plinth area method, cubic content method and service unit method<\/li>\n<li>Identify different units of measurements and accuracy of measurements.<\/li>\n<li>Define the terms sundries, Lump sum, Lead and lift, contingencies, unforeseen items, work charged establishment. Estimate PAC<\/li>\n<li>Identify the different methods of earth work volume computation &#8211; Trapezoidal &#8211; midsection, mean section (trapezoidal and Prismoidal formula)<\/li>\n<li>Compute the quantities of earth work from Longitudinal section and Cross section in cutting and filling (no transverse slope)<\/li>\n<li>Compute Capacity of reservoir from contour map using trapezoidal rule and prismoidal<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Describe different methods of taking quantities by centre line method, long and short wall method<\/li>\n<li>Compute the estimate of doors, windows and ventilators, roof-(Flat &amp; Sloped), office building with RCC roof<\/li>\n<li>Compute the quantities for One roomed building (RCC roof- Flat &amp; Sloped), Two roomed building (RCC roof-Flat &amp; Sloped) except finishing work<\/li>\n<li>Compute the quantities for residential building with RCC roof-(Flat &amp; Sloped) ,office building with RCC roof Flat &amp; Sloped), Two roomed building (RCC roofFlat &amp; Sloped) except finishing work<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Compute quantities of all finishing work, water supply and sanitary items for One roomed building (RCC roof-Flat &amp; Sloped), Two roomed building (RCC roof-Flat &amp;Sloped)<\/li>\n<li>Compute quantities of all finishing work, water supply and sanitary items for residential building with RCC roof-Flat &amp; Sloped, office building with RCC roof.<\/li>\n<li>Compute the quantities of masonry well, RCC water tank and WBM road<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Define cost of materials at source and at site &#8211; conveyance charges &#8211; Lump sum items -extra labour &#8211; contractor&#8217;s profit<\/li>\n<li>Identify standard data book -schedule of rates Prepare conveyance statement<\/li>\n<li>Prepare rate analysis using standard data book, conveyance statement and schedule of rate<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Datta, B.N., Estimating and Costing in Civil engineering, UBS Publishers Distributors<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Reference Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Peurifoy, Robert L.
