The detailed syllabus of wood chemistry lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To enable the students to apply the principles of wood analysis learned in wood chemistry<\/li>\n<li>To impart basic knowledge on the qualitative analysis of inorganic salt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Conduct the qualitative analysis of inorganic salt<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the Identification of wood<\/li>\n<li>Conduct the Analysis of wood<\/li>\n<li>Analyse wood preservatives<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Systematic analysis for the identification of cation and anion in inorganic salt Cation &#8211; ammonium, lead, aluminium, barium, calcium, ,magnesium, Anion &#8211; carbonate, acetate, chloride, nitrate, sulphate<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Teak rose wood, acasia, jack wood, rubber wood, vankana, mango, aini and irul<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Determination of lignin in raw material<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the determination of pentosan in raw material<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the determination of alpha, beta, gamma and holocellulose<\/li>\n<li>Determination of moisture content of wood by oven dry method<\/li>\n<li>Determination of ash content of wood<\/li>\n<li>Determine the humidity and temperature measured by hygrometer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>To determine the concentration of a preservative solution by using hydrometer<\/li>\n<li>Conduct the dry salt retention (DSR) on a preservative treated specimen<\/li>\n<li>To determine the qualitative analysis for the depth of penetration of boron treated wood<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Browning B.
