The detailed syllabus of jigs &amp; fixture lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide the concepts and use of the jigs and fixtures<\/li>\n<li>To impart professional competency in the manufacturing techniques of jigs and fixtures.<\/li>\n<li>To introduce the practical application of limit, fit, tolerances &amp; surface roughness.<\/li>\n<li>To explain complicated shopfloor drawings, produce jobs, and inspect the job for specified dimensions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Produce the basic components of Jigs and fixtures<\/li>\n<li>Apply the acquired knowledge to manufacture simple jigs<\/li>\n<li>Produce simple fixtures<\/li>\n<li>Interpret the concepts of Limits, Fit, Tolerance, surface roughness values and symbols.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Illustrate basic locating elements &#8211; cylindrical, conical, diamond pin locators, &#8220;V&#8221; locators etc.<\/li>\n<li>Illustrate locating principles &#8211; six-point, redundant, fool proofing etc.<\/li>\n<li>Illustrate clamping methods &#8211; Latch, screw, cam etc.<\/li>\n<li>Illustrate the different types of guide bushing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Making of simple liner bushes &#8211; headed &amp; headless\/press fit bushing\/ slip &amp; renewable bushing.<\/li>\n<li>Making of simple template\/latch\/box\/angle\/sandwich\/trunnion Jigs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Produce simple milling\/turning fixture<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Apply the Shaft &amp; Hole dimensions for various types of fits using the standard tolerance chart.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the types of fits used in press tools, Moulds, jigs &amp; fixtures and calculation of its dimensions for the corresponding basic size.<\/li>\n<li>Apply the various surface finish values and symbol used in press tool &amp; mould machining operations for attaining respective surface finish.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Jigs &amp; Fixtures P H Joshy<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Reference Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Fundamentals of Tool Design, 6th Edition, 2010, SME Publication<\/li>\n<li>Tool Design, Cyril Donaldson, Special Indian Edition, 2012, Tata Mc Graw Hill.<\/li>\n<li>A Text Book of Production Engineering, P.C.
