The detailed syllabus of basic textile mechanics lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To impart the basic knowledge of different mechanical elements used in Textile machines such as shaft, pulley, axle, key, coupling, bearing and their functions.<\/li>\n<li>To understand the concept of drive transmission and speed calculation.<\/li>\n<li>To study the application of different types of gears, belts, cam and tappet in textile machines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the students will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify the different mechanical elements used in Textile machines and explain their function.<\/li>\n<li>Illustrate and compare different methods of drive transmission<\/li>\n<li>Explain the different types of gears, their application and calculate speed from a drive transmission\/gearing diagram.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the basic aspects of cam, tappet and variable speed drives.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Identification of various mechanical elements in textile machines.<\/li>\n<li>Study of Shaft, axle, pulley, keys and coupling.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Study of different Power Transmission Devices &#8211; Flexible drives and rigid drives used in textile machinery -comparison, merits and de merits.<\/li>\n<li>Study of various belt drives, their suitability and function.<\/li>\n<li>Study of roller chain drive &#8211; advantages and disadvantages<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Study of different types of gear, identify the types of gears in the allotted machine and explain their application.<\/li>\n<li>Study of worm &amp; worm wheel drives and its types, pawl and ratchet drives<\/li>\n<li>Study of gear train, drive transmission\/gearing diagram and calculate the speed, belt slip%.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Study of Tappet and Cams.<\/li>\n<li>Study of variable speed drives in Textile machines -step less cone pulleys , PIV drives<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Laboratory manual<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Reference Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Ganapathy Nagarajan &#8211; Textile mechanisms for Spinning and Weaving machines<\/li>\n<li>R.
