The detailed syllabus of database management system lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Impart to design, develop and manage relational databases using SQL.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the design of databases with constraints for real world applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make use of DDL, DML commands to construct and manage databases<\/li>\n<li>Make use of aggregate functions, join operations, views and nested queries<\/li>\n<li>Develop SQL programming using functions, procedures, cursors and trigger<\/li>\n<li>Design and develop databases for real world applications<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Experiment with DDL commands-CREATE, ALTER, DROP<\/li>\n<li>Apply integrity constraints &#8211; PRIMARY KEY, NOT NULL, DEFAULT, CHECK, UNIQUE, FOREIGN KEY<\/li>\n<li>Apply DML commands &#8211; INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE to manipulate databases<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with WHERE, DISTINCT, BETWEEN, ORDER BY, IN, LIKE, set operations in SELECT statements for data retrieval from the databases<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify aggregate functions -SUM, AVG, COUNT, MIN, MAX &#8211; GROUP BY and HAVING clause<\/li>\n<li>Develop nested queries<\/li>\n<li>Develop SQL queries for inner and outer joins.<\/li>\n<li>Construct various views of the table<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Experiment with stored procedures for simple tasks<\/li>\n<li>Utilize stored functions for database manipulations<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with cursors for database operations<\/li>\n<li>Develop SQL programs using triggers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Ended Experiments<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Sample Open Ended Experiments<\/h4>\n<p>(Not for End Semester Examination but compulsory to be included in Continuous Internal Evaluation.) Students can-do open-ended experiments as a group of 2-3.
