The detailed syllabus of electrical machines lab i is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To Understand the characteristics of dc &amp; compound generator<\/li>\n<li>To get familair the speed characteristics of dc shunt motor<\/li>\n<li>To perform different test on DC machine<\/li>\n<li>To impart basic knowledge on efficiency &amp; regulation of single phase transformers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On com\tpletion of the course student will be able to:\t\t<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Plot different characteristics of dc generators and perform load test<\/li>\n<li>Identify various methods of starting and speed control of a dc motor<\/li>\n<li>Make use of standard tests to determine the efficiency of a DC machine<\/li>\n<li>Utilize various tests to determine the efficiency and voltage regulation of a single phase transformer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify different parts of dc machine<\/li>\n<li>Plot magnetization characteristics of a d.c. shunt generator<\/li>\n<li>Perform load on d.c. shunt generator<\/li>\n<li>Predetermine the efficiency of a dc shunt machine using Swinburn&#8217;s test<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Start DC shunt motor by using three point starter &amp; four point starter<\/li>\n<li>Perform load test on DC shunt motor and plot the mechanical charecteristis.<\/li>\n<li>Control the speed of dc shunt motor by (a) Armature resistance control (b) Field control<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Separate the losses of a dc shunt motor by conducting Swinburns test<\/li>\n<li>Plot the mechanical characteristics of a dc series motor .<\/li>\n<li>Determine the efficiency of a DC machine by conducting Hopkinson&#8217;s test<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Obtain efficiency and voltage regulation of a single phase transformer by OC &amp;SC tests<\/li>\n<li>Perform OC &amp; SC tests on single phase transformer and draw equivalent circuit<\/li>\n<li>Determine the efficiency of a single phase Transformer by Direct loading<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Bimbra P.
