The detailed syllabus of electrical and renewable measurements lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To develop measurement systems for various electrical circuits.<\/li>\n<li>To develop measurement systems for various renewable systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify standard tests for measurement of resistance.<\/li>\n<li>Choose various methods for measuring electric power and energy.<\/li>\n<li>Apply standard calibration procedures to examine accuracy of electrical meters.<\/li>\n<li>Identify the experimental procedures for the measurement of solar radiation and wind energy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Sketch the front panel of various electrical measuring instruments- Ammeters (MC&amp;MC) ,Voltmeters (MC&amp;MC), Wattmeter and Energy meter<\/li>\n<li>Develop circuits to measure low and medium resistance using the voltmeter-ammeter method.<\/li>\n<li>Apply Kelvin&#8217;s double bridge method for the measurement of low resistance.<\/li>\n<li>Apply Wheatstone&#8217;s bridge method for the measurement of medium resistance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Select wattmeter\tto measure power consumption of a given load.<\/li>\n<li>Choose single phase induction type and digital energy meters to measure energy consumption of a given load.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a circuit arrangement to measure three phase power and power factor using 2 wattmeter method.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Develop a circuit to calibrate wattmeter at UPF by direct loading.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a circuit to calibrate single phase Energy Meter at UPF by direct loading.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a circuit to calibrate single phase Energy Meter at UPF by phantom loading.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Utilize pyranometer, solarimeter, Pyrheliometer and sunshine recorder for measuring Solar radiation.<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with digital anemometer &amp; cup anemometer to measure wind speed.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a circuit to plot the V-I characteristics of a solar cell.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a circuit to plot the V-I characteristics of solar cells in series and in parallel combinations<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Laboratory Manual on Electrical Measurements &amp; Electrical Machines, P.O.Kuttappan, Spades publishers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Reference Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Electrical Measurements &amp; measuring instruments by A.K.Sawhney DhanpatRai Publications<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Measurements &amp; measuring instruments by R.K.Rajput, S.CHAND Publications<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Measurements &amp; Measuring Instruments by J. There is no duplication in experiments in between groups. This is mainly for the purpose of continuous internal evaluation.
