  1. Assess the basic concept of design for printing, different types of originals used in print design, placing of design elements & principles. 1<\/li>\n
  2. Assess role of type & typography to do in a design, importance of proof reading and layout. 1<\/li>\n
  3. Explain Various imposition schemes, and understand the format & design factors of different printed products.<\/li>\n
  4. Explain computer aided designing, Advertising agency and advertising medias.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Module 1:<\/h4>\n

    Design – Introduction to graphic design – goal, audience, venue and budget. Concept of Design for printing – What does the design process involve? Who are the Designers connected with printing? Role of the Print Designer. Overall concept of Industrial Design in relation to printing design. Design elements – line, shape, value, and format, texture -visual and tactile, type, color and space – negative and positive. Principles of design -harmony, rhythm, contrast, balance – (formal, informal), proportion, unity. Guttenberg diagram of eye direction. Different types of Originals – Continuous tone, line drawings, halftone black & white and color copy, and transparency.\n<\/p>\n

    Module 3:<\/h4>\n

    Various imposition schemes: Regular – sheet wise work, half sheet work, work and turn, work and tumble. Irregular imposition. Imposition software- importance of imposition software in designing, imposition, Bookmaker, pressgenie, Insoft, agfa apogee, etc. Book design-parts of book. Newspaper-components of newspaper design, magazine-components of magazine. Design of stationary materials: commercial stationary- business forms, greeting and invitation cards, hand bills, direct mail folders, show cards. Other printed products: Leaflets, pamphlets, catalogues, brochures, booklets, Labels, manuals, cartons -packaging, etc.\n<\/p>\n

    Module 4:<\/h4>\n

    Designing of printed products using computers, working with software: In-design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Free design, Quark express, flash (for web), etc. Proofingdefinition, importance, types-soft, hard, color proof, prepress proof, progressive proof, contract proof, Ok sheet. Advertising Agency Function of an advertising agency. Role of Accounts Executive, Visualizer or Art Director, &Copywriter, copy writing and its importance Outdoor and indoor medias.\n<\/p>\n
