The detailed syllabus of fluid mechanics lab (mechanical) is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Toapply the knowledge in fluid mechanics for various practical experiments.<\/li>\n<li>To familiarize with the various applications of fluid mechanics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Describe the methods for pressure measurement and determine the metacentric height of floating body.<\/li>\n<li>Measure various properties such as pressure, velocity, flow rate using various instruments and perform the experiments to understand Bernoulli&#8217;s theorem and its applications.<\/li>\n<li>Distinguish various pipe fittings and determine coefficient of friction and minor losses in pipe flow.<\/li>\n<li>Determine the co-efficient of discharge of Notches and Hydraulic co-efficients of orifice based on experiments<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<p>Pressure measuring instruments- piezometer, Manometer, Bourdon tube pressure gauge. Determine the metacentric height of the floating body.\n<\/p>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<p>Verification of Bernoulli&#8217;s theorem Determination of Coefficient of Discharge of Venturi meter.\n<\/p>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<p>Pipe fittings, pipe joints and valves Determination of coefficient of friction of flow through pipes. Determination of minor losses of flow through pipes.\n<\/p>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<p>Determine the co-efficient of discharge of Various Notches.
