The detailed syllabus of thermal engineering lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To identify different parts and systems of IC engines<\/li>\n<li>To perform different performance test on IC engines, draw various characteristic curves and obtain economic speed &amp; power.<\/li>\n<li>To determine viscosity, calorific value, flash and fire point of the given solid and liquid fuels.<\/li>\n<li>To achieve the proficiency to test the performance of heat exchangers and Air compressors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Apply theoretical knowledge in evaluating the performance of IC engines<\/li>\n<li>Determination of viscosity, calorific value, flash point and fire point of fuels.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate performance test on Heat exchangers<\/li>\n<li>Conduct performance test on air compressors<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<p>Study of petrol and Diesel engines. Components and systems of IC engines-Valve timing<br \/>\ndiagrams -Load test on petrol and diesel engines.\n<\/p>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<p>Properties of fuels, Redwood Viscometer. Flash and fire point apparatus. Bomb Calorimeters, Junker&#8217;s calorimeter.\n<\/p>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<p>Heat exchanger-function-classification- parallel flow- counter flow- shell and tubeeffectiveness- overall heat transfer co efficient.\n<\/p>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<p>Air compressor -Components-working-Reciprocating and Rotary air compressors-Performance test, volumetric efficiency, adiabatic efficiency.\n<\/p>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Mechanical Workshop &amp; Laboratory Manual by K.
