The detailed syllabus of network switching technologies lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide practical exposure about Network Switching Technologies from a Network Administrator&#8217;s point-of-view.<\/li>\n<li>To provide basic concept of Local Area Network, Network Switching and its Administration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, students will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Configure a network switch using basic Internetwork Operating System commands.<\/li>\n<li>Setup a Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) 1<\/li>\n<li>Configure access and trunk port, VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP) and Port Security.<\/li>\n<li>Configure Access-Control List (ACL) and Network Address Translation (NAT). 1<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Make use of various show commands in a switch<\/li>\n<li>Make use of copy, write, erase and delete command<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with configuration of IP addresses in a switch<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with Telnet, SSH and DHCP services in a Switch<\/li>\n<li>Utilize Backup and Restoration of configuration in a Switch.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Experiment with MAC Address Table verification<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with creating and renaming VLANs in a Switch<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with assigning VLAN membership to switchports<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with verifying VLAN information by show vlan brief command<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with testing the reachability between the users of VLANs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Experiment with configuring access and trunk port in switches<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with configuring VTP<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with configuring Port Security in a Switch<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Make use of creating and defining permit\/deny statements in a standard ACL using access-list command<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with configuring Static and Dynamic NAT<\/li>\n<li>Open-ended experiment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Suggested Open-Ended Experiments<\/h4>\n<p>(Not for End Semester Examination but compulsory to be included in Continuous Internal Evaluation. Students can do open-ended experiments as a group of 2-3.
