The detailed syllabus of computer hardware and networking lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide practical knowledge on basic Computer hardware installation and troubleshooting.<\/li>\n<li>To plan and implement a local area network and resource sharing using network components.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, students will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Assemble a P. C<\/li>\n<li>Install O. S. and troubleshoot<\/li>\n<li>Setup a simple LAN and do basic configuration<\/li>\n<li>Setup a network using Simulator software<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify components of a PC.<\/li>\n<li>Identify ports and sockets of a PC<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with SMPS<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with Motherboard<\/li>\n<li>Build a desktop PC<\/li>\n<li>Identify the different beep sound produced by the motherboard<\/li>\n<li>Identify the troubles in PC<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Experiment with Installation of Linux in a newly assembled PC<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with hard disk partitioning and formatting<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with hard disk file system<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with Installation of application software in Linux<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify the structure of LAN and its components<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with the Ethernet Switch and NIC card<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with the colour code of LAN cable and Crimping<\/li>\n<li>Build a simple LAN using Switch and PC<\/li>\n<li>Utilize commands like ping, ifconfig etc.<\/li>\n<li>Setup IP address and MAC address<\/li>\n<li>Setup static and dynamic IP address settings<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with DNS and Gateway settings<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Experiment with Network Simulation Software.<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with basic router commands<\/li>\n<li>Setup a network in a Simulator software with switches<\/li>\n<li>Setup a Network in Simulator software with two LAN&#8217;s and a router<\/li>\n<li>Setup a Network in Simulator software with two LAN&#8217;s and two routers<\/li>\n<li>Open-ended experiment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Suggested Open-Ended Experiments<\/h4>\n<p>(Not for End Semester Examination but compulsory to be included in Continuous Internal Evaluation. Students can do open-ended experiments as a group of 2-3.
