The detailed syllabus of computer network engineering lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide hands-on experience in computer networking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the students will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify and configure hardware components in a network<\/li>\n<li>Build Local Area Networks.<\/li>\n<li>Plan and configure Routers.<\/li>\n<li>Construct Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify various types of networking cables and connectors<\/li>\n<li>Identify various networking devices such as switch, router, wireless router etc.<\/li>\n<li>Practice Crimping.<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with installation and configuration of wired and wireless NIC<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Demonstrate IP address and MAC address of NIC<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate static and dynamic IP address settings<\/li>\n<li>Experiment peer to peer networking.<\/li>\n<li>Implement Local Area Networks<\/li>\n<li>Make use of basic network configuration commands like ping, ifconfig,tracert etc<\/li>\n<li>Plan and configure a wireless router to access the Internet.<\/li>\n<li>Identify simple problems in LAN and troubleshooting of LAN<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Demonstrate Network Simulator<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with basic router commands<\/li>\n<li>Experiment network in a simulator with switches<\/li>\n<li>Plan and configure Network in a simulator with two LAN&#8217;s and a router<\/li>\n<li>Plan and configure Network in a simulator with two LAN&#8217;s and two routers<\/li>\n<li>Plan and configure Network in a simulator with three routers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Experiment with MAC Address Table verification<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate creating and renaming VLANs in a Switch<\/li>\n<li>Experiment assigning VLAN membership to switch ports<\/li>\n<li>Experiment verifying VLAN information by show vlan brief command<\/li>\n<li>Configure Inter-VLAN routing using L3 Switch\/Router<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with testing the reachability between the users of VLANs .<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Suggested Open-Ended Experiments:<\/h4>\n<p>(Not for End Semester Examination but compulsory to be included in Continuous Internal Evaluation. Students can do open-ended experiments as a group of 2-3.
