The detailed syllabus of transportation engineering lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide hands-on experience for the students with different tests on road materials used in the construction of roads and railways.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Perform different tests on aggregates for its suitability as road construction material.<\/li>\n<li>Perform different tests on bituminous material for its suitability as road construction.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare reports of defects and remedial measures of existing roads. 9\tApplying<\/li>\n<li>Prepare reports of defects and remedial measures of existing railway track.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Sketch standard cross sections of Expressways, Freeways, NH\/SH, MDR\/ODR<\/li>\n<li>Flakiness and Elongation Index test on aggregates<\/li>\n<li>Angularity Number test on aggregates<\/li>\n<li>Aggregate impact test<\/li>\n<li>Los Angeles Abrasion test on aggregate<\/li>\n<li>Aggregate crushing test<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Softening point test on bitumen<\/li>\n<li>Penetration test on bitumen<\/li>\n<li>Flash and Fire Point test on bitumen<\/li>\n<li>Ductility test on Bitumen<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Visit the constructed road (flexible or rigid) for visual inspection to identify defects and the drainage condition to suggest remedial measures<\/li>\n<li>Prepare the photographic report on construction activity of road<\/li>\n<li>Prepare the photographic report suggesting possible repairs and maintenance of roads and drainage.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Model study \/Site visit of railway track, fixtures, fasteners, points and crossings and yards.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare the photographic report containing details for visual inspection of fixtures, points and crossing fasteners and yards.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare the photographic report suggesting possible repairs of defects like cracks, creep, abrasion of ballast, derailment, loosening of fixtures etc and maintenance of railway tracks<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>L.R.
