The detailed syllabus of construction materials lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide hands-on experience for the students with the construction materials by performing masonry construction, plumbing, wiring and painting activities.<\/li>\n<li>To identify natural, artificial and processed materials available for various purposes of construction activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Perform setting out of a building and demonstrate brick masonry<\/li>\n<li>Perform the plumbing works and bar bending<\/li>\n<li>Carry out the painting works on different surfaces<\/li>\n<li>Execute the electrical wiring works<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Measure dimensions of 10 bricks and find average dimension, weight &amp; density. Perform field tests &#8211; dropping, striking and scratching by nail and correlate the results obtained.<\/li>\n<li>Setting out a small building in the field.<\/li>\n<li>Identify various layers and types of soil in foundation pit by visiting at least 3 construction sites in different locations of city and prepare report consisting photographs and samples.<\/li>\n<li>Construct one brick thick &amp; one and a half brick thick wall corner in English Bond and Flemish bond<\/li>\n<li>Construct one brick thick wall T- junction, one brick thick pier in English bond and one and a half brick thick pier in English Bond and Flemish bond.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify and sketching of tools and fittings in plumbing and sanitary wares<\/li>\n<li>Perform thread cutting on G I pipe and PVC pipes 20mm &amp;25mm<\/li>\n<li>Carryout fitting of pipes, specials, taps, shower Connect different types of water traps. Installation of closets, wash basins, flushing cisterns, flushing valves<\/li>\n<li>Identify different types of flooring tiles such as vitrified tiles, ceramic tiles, glazed tiles, mosaic tiles, anti- skid tiles, chequered tiles, paving blocks and prepare report about the specifications<\/li>\n<li>Perform bar bending for Hooks, Stirrups, Ties and Crank bars<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Perform white washing and Colour washing<\/li>\n<li>Perform painting with enamel and emulsion paints.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Perform Single phase wiring- one lamp controlled by one switch and one lamp controlled by two switches.<\/li>\n<li>Perform connections to Plug &amp; Socket, DP &amp; TP main switch, MCB &amp; ELCB, Earthing, lightning arrester.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Construction Materials, Ghose, D.
