The detailed syllabus of concrete technology lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To impart knowledge to the students to identify the physical properties of cement, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate by performing laboratory tests.<\/li>\n<li>To enable students to prepare concrete of desired compressive strength and specifications by maintaining the quality of concrete<\/li>\n<li>To enable them to alter the properties of concrete according to the different conditions by learning the characteristics of admixtures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine different properties of cement<\/li>\n<li>Determine the physical properties of fine aggregate<\/li>\n<li>Determine the physical properties of coarse aggregate<\/li>\n<li>Prepare concrete of desired compressive strength and specification<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine fineness of cement (sieve test) and specific gravity<\/li>\n<li>Determine standard consistency, initial and final setting times of cement<\/li>\n<li>Determine soundness and compressive strength of cement.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine silt content in sand.<\/li>\n<li>Determine bulking of sand.<\/li>\n<li>Determine bulk density of fine aggregate<\/li>\n<li>Determine water absorption of fine aggregate<\/li>\n<li>Determine Fineness modulus of fine aggregate by sieve analysis<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine bulk density of coarse aggregate<\/li>\n<li>Determine water absorption of coarse aggregate<\/li>\n<li>Determine Fineness modulus of coarse aggregate by sieve analysis<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine workability of concrete by slump cone test and compacting factor test<\/li>\n<li>Prepare concrete mix of a particular grade<\/li>\n<li>Determine compressive strength of concrete for 7 and 28 days.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstration of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) equipments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Concrete Technology, Gambhir, M.L, Tata McGraw Hill Publishing Co.
