The detailed syllabus of basic surveying lab is as follows. <\/p>\n<p><h4>Course Objectives:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To train students to use basic survey equipments like chain, cross staff, compass, levelling equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Enable them to plot ground features using plane table and measure bearings and obtain angles using compass for plotting traverses.<\/li>\n<li>Give hands on practice of levelling and sectioning of surfaces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><h4>Course Outcomes:<\/h4>\n<p>On completion of the course, the student will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Plot land area using principles of chain survey and plane table survey<\/li>\n<li>Plot land area by compass survey<\/li>\n<li>Determine level difference between stations in the field<\/li>\n<li>Sketch longitudinal and cross profiles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 1:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Use tape to measure distance between two survey stations when the two stations are intervisible.<\/li>\n<li>Determine area of open field using Tape and cross staff survey.<\/li>\n<li>Plot area by Radiation Method and intersection method of plane tabling<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 2:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Plot area by radiation method using tape and compass.<\/li>\n<li>Determine inaccessible distances between points using compass and tape.<\/li>\n<li>Plot area using tape and compass for a closed traverse of minimum 5 sides.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 3:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Determine level difference by simple leveling<\/li>\n<li>Determine reduced levels by Rise and Fall method and Height of Instrument (HI) method.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Module 4:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Perform fly leveling with double check using dumpy level\/ Auto level and levelling staff.<\/li>\n<li>Plot longitudinal profiles and cross sections for the alignment of road.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><h4>Text Books:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Punmia, B.C,; Jain, Ashok Kumar; Jain, Arun Kumar, Surveying I, Laxmi Publications., New Delhi<\/li>\n<li>Basak, N.
